What to do at Elsewhere

Laze the days away, soak under the stars, hike the many hidden peaks. Elsewhere really is like nowhere else.

Do everything. Or nothing at all

  • Laze

Spend your days on the balcony, napping on the day bed, and your evenings soaking in the outdoor bath tub. You really needn’t do much else, and certainly needn’t feel guilty about it. Elsewhere is for serenity and relaxation over and above anything else.

  • Paddle

The kayaking in the area is truly world-class. Endless coves and secluded beaches are accessible via the sheltered waters. Pack a light lunch (and maybe some local wine and cheese!) and head over to one of the local private islands for a browse.

  • Hike

The Huon Valley is a hiker’s dream. You can climb nearby Sugarloaf Mountain for a relatively easy hike (with stunning views), or drive up to Hartz Mountains for an incredible vista over the Southwest World Heritage area.

  • Eat

The local organic produce is prolific and delicious. Head to our favourite cafe, The Port Hole Cygnet, for a lovely brunch, or go more gourmet at the renowned Red Velvet Lounge Cygnet. You can also shop the local produce and come back to Elsewhere to craft your own gourmet feast.

  • Swim

We won’t tell you the water’s warm outside of summer and autumn, but we will tell you to jump in anyway. The pristine Eggs and Bacon Bay Beach is one of the safest possible places to swim in the area. The shallow, lagoon-style bay is the perfect place for kids to splash around in absolute safety - all while you watch on from the deck, only a couple of metres away.

  • Fish

Fishing rods are, of course, provided and you won’t need much luck to catch a local bream or flathead - both of which are abundant in the bay. You can cast your line offshore or paddle out in the dinghy and use one of the handlines. Many a lovely fish meal has been hooked just 10-15 metres off the shore. In the summer evenings, flounder can also be speared right off the beach.

At one with nature.
